Our Story

Two people, one big idea, and a whole lot of trial and error

Wick N Twisted didn't start with a business plan. It started with a candle and a couple who couldn't stop chasing a feeling.

It began in Cincinnati, Ohio, when Sara and Chris were visiting her hometown. One afternoon she took him into a little candle-making shop. He was hooked from the very first pour! There was something about mixing your own scent, watching the wax set, and walking out with something you made yourself. During that visit, the two of us felt it. There was a void here in Jacksonville. We saw an opportunity for something we could build together, and bring to our home in Florida.

We met in Charlotte, North Carolina, where we'd become regulars at a new kind of spot. A self-pour tap wall where you poured your own craft beer and wine, played games, and caught your favorite teams on the TVs. It was social. It was easy. It was the kind of place you never wanted to leave. So, we started asking ourselves the obvious question: What if you could put those two things together? After much thought, the answer was clear. We should design a place with self-pour candles and a self-pour tap room, all under one roof.

But we wanted to do it our way... with a twist!

What was missing

Every time we traveled, we'd seek out candle-making shops just to study them. How did each one do it? What made it work, and what didn't? Over and over, we ran into the same problems. The class was rushed and too quick. You didn't really learn anything about candle making. There wasn't enough hands-on creativity. And when it was over, you had to leave and go find something else to do while you waited to pick up your candle. None of it felt like an experience. We kept repeating that word to ourselves, and thought: how can we make this an experience?

We also noticed something else: in many groups, some people wanted to make candles, while others just wanted to hang out with everyone. So why force everyone into the same thing? What if the candle lovers could take their time and get truly creative, while everyone else grabbed a drink, played a game, and watched their favorite team on the TVs,  all in the same space, all part of the same night?

That's the idea we brought to Jacksonville Beach.

The Wick N Twisted experience

Today, Wick N Twisted is Jacksonville Beach's most unique and creative hangout. We are a candle-making studio with a self-pour tap room, just steps from the ocean at 320 9th Ave N.

Here, you're in control. Choose your vessel, blend a custom scent from our fragrance bar, and pour your very own hand-crafted candle, all while a rotating selection of local craft beers and wines awaits you on our self-pour tap wall. No experience needed. Just show up, pour a drink, and let your creativity flow. Our team is here to guide you through every step, whether it's your first candle or your fiftieth.

And if candle making isn't your thing tonight? Perfect. Hang out in the tap room, rack up a game, catch your team on the TVs, and enjoy the night alongside your crew. There's room for everyone here, because we built it that way on purpose.

Come hang out! No candle required

Not in the mood to make anything? Come on in anyway! The tap room is open to everyone, even if you are not crafting a candle. Grab a drink or two, play a game, catch the big game on the TVs, and just relax. It's the kind of chill spot parents love where they can unwind with a drink while the kids play games and burn off some energy. And you never have to do it hungry; feel free to bring in your own food, or ask us for a recommendation for our favorite local restaurants. We are always happy to point you in the direction of a great bite to enjoy in our tap room.
